ELON, NC – A brutal 29-6 second quarter by homestanding Elon gave the Phoenix an 82-59 win over the Hampton Lady Pirates on Friday night.
After trailing 20-15 following the first quarter, Hampton went ice cold hitting 3-of-14 from the floor and go scoreless for almost 5:30 as Elon expanded the lead to 49-19 with 80 seconds left on a Malaya Johnson layup.

Jephany Brown and
K'lynn Willis had 12 points each to lead Hampton (1-1), while DeJane James added 11.Â
Allina Starr scored six points and dished out six assists. Brown topped the team in rebounds with six and blocked shots with three.

Hampton returns to action on Tuesday night in Charlottesville against the University of Virginia at 7 pm.
