ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Laren VanArsdale scored 24 points and Ashley Bates added 21 as Hampton rallied from an 18-point second quarter deficit and fell 70-68 to Stephen F. Austin in the opening game of the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. on Wednesday night.

Hampton trailed by as much as 18 points in the second quarter at 40-22 and rallied to take a lead twice late in the fourth, but Chanel Hayes hit a layup and then later a free throw for Stephen F. Austin to ice the win.

Hampton will face either Sacramento State or host New Mexico on Thursday at The Pit in Albuquerque.
