BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- The last time Hampton rallied from a 2-0 set deficit to win the match was at Coppin State on October 3, 2014. That team finished the season 21-11 with an 11-1 mark in conference play.
- This was the first meeting between HU and St. Francis Brooklyn.
- Transfer Sasha Saric had a career day for the Lady Pirates, tying for the team lead with 13 kills on a .435 hitting percentage. She also added a team-leading four aces and four blocks.
- Megann Delgado had her third double-double of the season, registering 13 kills and 12 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Francis Brooklyn led 17-15 in the third set as a block put the Terriers up two. Hampton rallied with four-straight points, highlighted by a pair of aces from Maja Petronijevic, to take the first lead for the Lady Pirates. St. Francis would not lead again in the set.
- The two squads continued to go back and forth in the fourth set with HU leading 13-11 midway through the game. The Lady Pirates reeled off four-straight points, and 10 of the next 12, to go up 23-13 and even the match at two sets each.
- The Terriers looked like they might be able to withstand the Lady Pirates, leading 14-13 in the fifth set and serving for the match, but a kill by Victoria Jenifer off a Lena Reed-Petracek assist evened the score at 14. A bad set by the Terriers and an ace from Jenifer ended the contest.
