HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University finished their back to back two-game Big South Conference home matches on Saturday where the visiting Spartans of USC Upstate scored a 25-10, 25-21, 25-18 win to defeat the Lady Pirates in three sets in Holland Hall.
In the second set, Hampton would keep the score close but USC Upstate took a 23-21 lead after a kill by Smith. USC Upstate would call a timeout and would score the final two points to win 25-21. The third set saw USC Upstate lead 21-15, but two kills by
Sydney Sumner would led to a USC Upstate timeout. USC Upstate scored four of the next five points to seal the match.
Hampton will be back on the hardwood Friday October 18, as they square off against Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.
