HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton volleyball team fell in four sets on Saturday afternoon to visiting Gardner-Webb 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-13.
After losing the opening set 25-21, Hampton rallied to take the second after opening down 7-2. The Lady Pirates tied it at 10 on a kill by
Sasha Saric and at 11 on one by
Gabby Calloway. They took their first lead at 13-12 on another kill by Saric and it grew to 17-14 after a pair of kills by
Alyah Barkley.
As the lead went from three, to one, to three again, kills by Barkley and
Isis Black gave Hampton the second set at 25-21.
In the third set, Hampton held a 17-14 lead after a service ace by
Ana Baruh Krstic before the guests scored six of the next seven points to lead 20-18 and eventually winning 25-21.
Calloway had 12 kills and 11 digs to lead Hampton, while Black added 10 kills and Saric with nine.Â
Jessica Pugh chipped in 10 digs, while
Lena Reed-Petracek had 33 assists.
Hampton will be home again next weekend hosting Radford at 6 pm on November 8.
