HAMPTON, Va. – Ben Stanley matched his career high with 20 points to go with 11 rebounds and two blocks as Hampton defeated Regent University 93-50 on Thursday night.

Hampton broke open a close first half with a 25-5 run over a ten-minute span.  A jumper by Kristopher Smith brought the Royals to 14-13 with 12:51 left in the half before a dunk by Stanley got the Pirates up 16-13.  A 3-pointer by Chris Shelton with 2:35 left pushed the Hampton lead to 39-18, while a dunk by Edward Oliver-Hampton closed the half for Hampton with a 43-22 lead.

The Pirates opened the second half with a 13-3 run as Davion Warren started the second half with a three-pointer and fed Oliver-Hampton for a dunk with 15:38 left as Hampton took a 56-26 lead.  Hampton's largest lead of the night came on a Shelton layup with 3:40 left to take an 88-43 lead.

Jermaine Marrow had 19 points and seven assists, while Warren just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.  Shelton scored 12 points and Dondre Griffin added 11 points, five assists and four steals for the Pirates.

Hampton now starts a three-game road swing visiting the University of Illinois on Saturday night for an 8pm start.
