CLINTON. S.C. – Hampton softball completed a Big South Conference series sweep of Presbyterian on Sunday with a 4-1 win on the road.
The Lady Pirates (18-8, 3-3) got on the board with a run in the fourth inning on a
Janae Lyles solo blast to left field. In the fifth,
Sarah Kollas started with a single and went to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Morgan Crawford. Pinch-runner
Joya Greer replaced Kollas and scored as
Casey Walker reached second on a strikeout and throwing error. Walker advanced to third as
DaSha Hill reached on an error and went to second on the throw. Both runners scored as
Brianna Anderson singled to left to put Hampton up 4-0.
In the bottom of the seventh, a pair of Hampton errors and a double by Courtney White put the hosts on the board. After one out, with runners on second and third,
Allie Hotetz came in to relieve starter
Allyson Babinsack and got the final two outs for her first save of the year. Babinsack got her fifth win throwing 6.1 innings with four strikeouts and no walks.
Lyles and Kollas had two hits each for Hampton as the Lady Pirates evened their Big South Conference record at 3-3 with the sweep.
Hampton now visits Spartanburg, S.C. next weekend to take on USC Upstate in a three-game series starting with a doubleheader on March 30 starting at 2 pm.
