LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Hampton volleyball team closed out its non-conference slate on Saturday by splitting a pair of games in the Bison Invitational defeating Fairleigh Dickinson 3-0 and losing 3-1 to Delaware State.
Against FDU, Hampton won 25-14, 25-17, 25-22 as
Gabby Calloway had 15 kills and 13 digs, while
Alyah Barkley added 11 kills and eight digs.Â
Genevieve Reynolds added seven kills and eight blocks as well.Â
The teams tied 11 times and had six lead changes in the third and decisive set. Hampton ended the game scoring four of the last five points as a
Genevieve Reynolds kill  locked up the win for the Lady Pirates.
DELAWARE STATE 3, HAMPTON 1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21)
Hampton opened Saturday with a hard fought four-set match with Delaware State.Â
Alyah Barkley had a season high 14 kills and four blocks to lead the Lady Pirates.
Genevieve Reynolds added 10 kills and six blocks, while
Sasha Saric missed a double-double with eight kills and 10 digs.
Hampton jumped out to a 16-9 lead after a kill by Saric, but the Hornets trimmed the deficit to 19-17 before Hampton scored five of the next six points to push the lead back to 24-18 after a kill by Barkley.
The Lady Pirates now start conference play on September 28 hosting Campbell at 2 pm.
