LEWISBURG, Pa. – Hampton opened play on Friday in the Bucknell Invitational with a pair of five-set matches defeating St. Francis College (NY) while falling to Saint Peter's in its first match.

HAMPTON 3, ST. FRANCIS COLLEGE (NY) 2 (17-25, 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 17-15)
In the nightcap of day one, the Lady Pirates turned the page after dropping a five-set match to start the day by defeating St. Francis College (NY) in five winning the final set 17-15.
Gabby Calloway had a season best 20 kills to go with nine digs, while
Clara Smith and
Isis Black added 13 kills each and
Alyah Barkley had a season high 12.Â
Lena Reed-Petracek had a double-double of 47 assists and 18 digs, while
Jessica Pugh added 17 digs.
In the decisive fifth set, Hampton rallied from a 7-3 early deficit and trailed 9-7 before ripping off five straight points as a kill by Barkley put Hampton up 12-9.
The score was tied at 13, then 14 and then 15 before kills by Calloway and
Genevieve Reynolds gave Hampton the final set and the win.
SAINT PETER'S 3, HAMPTON 2 (18-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 15-12)
In the opening match of the day, each team alternated winning sets until the Peacocks put a late run in the fifth and final set for the victory.
Clara Smith had a career high 16 kills, while
Gabby Calloway had 12 kills and 18 digs and
Lena Reed-Petracek added 25 assists and 13 digs.
Ana Baruh Krstic added 10 digs and two blocks, while
Sasha Saric chimed in with 10 kills and four blocks for Hampton.
