GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Hampton Lady Pirates split action in day one of the East Carolina Pirate Clash defeating George Washington 10-2 in six innings and losing to the host East Carolina Pirates 3-1.
Jackie Gonzalez,
Emily Kepple, and
Brianna Anderson all had two hits each, Anderson also had three RBIs in the Lady Pirates early morning win over George Washington 10-2.
After being tied at the end of the first inning Hampton took over by scoring three runs in the second inning for a 4-1 lead. Then in the fifth inning Hampton scored two runs, although allowing one run by George Washington they would close out the game by scoring four runs the seal the deal in the last inning.
Noelle Doan got the win with 6.0 innings and five strikeouts.
Janae Lyles,
Lexi Lomax, and Mo'Ne Davis also had hits. Davis also finished with an RBI as well as
Skylar Chavez and
Tiera Washington. Â
In game two, East Carolina got on the board with a run in the first and then two unearned runs in the third to lead 3-0. Hampton pushed a run across in the seventh on a two-out single by
Janae Lyles scoring Skyar Chavez who started the inning with a walk.
Hampton will play two more on Saturday facing George Washington and DePaul.
