MACON, Ga. –
Pierce Johnson and
Michael Lawrence scored two goals apiece on Saturday as the men's lacrosse team fell 28-6 at Mercer University.
Johnson got the first goal for Hampton (0-4) at the 11:56 mark of the second period off a feed by
Miles Fawcett to trail 10-1. The Pirates closed out the half with an unassisted goal by
Lonnie Jones with 25 seconds left to trail 17-2.
Hampton opened the scoring in the second half just under 11 minutes left in the third as Johnson blistered the net off a feed by Jones to trail 18-3. In the fourth, Hampton put three in the net as
Derian Williams-Sturdivant scored at the 7:57 mark to trail 25-4. Lawrence put the last two in for Hampton at 6:37 from a pass by Fawcett and then an unassisted goal with 45 seconds left.
The Pirates continue their road start by heading to Jacksonville University on March 6 for a 7pm start.
