PRINCESS ANNE, MD. -- Hampton closed out its non-conference volleyball schedule on Saturday dropping a pair of games at the UMES Henson Hawk Invitational.
In the opener,
Gabby Calloway had a season high 16 kills and eight digs, while
Clara Smith added 13 in the opening loss to St. Francis, Pa. in four sets 25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23. Â
Margaret Daramola and
Alyah Barkley added seven kills apiece for Hampton who used a 10-2 run in the third set to take a commanding 20-12 lead following consecutive kills from Calloway and Barkley.Â
Match two saw the Lady Pirates fall in three sets to the hosts 25-17, 25-18, 26-24. Smith and Daramola had six kills apiece, while Calloway and
Nevena Santrac added five apiece. UMES rallied in the final set scoring seven of the last eight points to take the win.
Brooklyn Irvin was named to the All-Tournament team following the event.
Hampton now heads into Big South action next Friday night taking on Presbyterian in Clinton, S.C.
