HAMPTON, Va. (March 12, 2024) – The Pirates fell in Tuesday's afternoon match against the High Point Panthers by a score of 27-5.
This was the third match between the two teams and the second at Hampton. High Point has won all three games.
How It Happened
Hampton had a slow start to the game. The Panthers led 7-0 after the first period and held the Pirates to only six shots on goal.
Craig Williams scored the Pirates first goal of the game at the 12:39 mark in the second period. It was not until the third period that Hampton grabbed its second goal, a
Miles Fawcett strike from teammate
Darius Stanley. Four minutes later,
Mamadou Meite scored off a pass from
Ethan Mitchell. In the fourth,
Kai Talley earned his second goal of the season on a man-up opportunity. Fawcett found the back of the net for the game's last goal, his second of the day.
The Pirates recorded 37 ground balls in today's game, which is eight more than any other game this season. 20 different players notched at least one ground ball, and six had three.
Dillon Bethea led the team with three caused turnovers.
Miles Fawcett posted a season-high six shots on goal.
