WASHINGTON D.C. (September 10, 2024) – The Lady Pirates battled in a loss to the George Washington Revolutionaries on Tuesday night in the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington D.C. The final score was 3-0 with the sets ending (25-14, 26-24, 25-15).
Madison Clark led the Lady Pirates in kills with 10. Teammates
Ada Bulgur and
Cortni Adams had nine and seven. Freshman
Morgan Warren set a career-high 24 assists, which is the most by a Hampton athlete since the 2022 season.
Rhisen Davis posted one ace.
Hampton recorded 39 digs as a team, four more than the Revolutionaries.
Kylah Hunter earned 13 digs, followed by
Maria Clara De Andrade with nine. Bulgur notched two blocks.
The Lady Pirates started slow as George Washington earned an early 6-0 advantage and took the first set 25-14. The second set was a battle. Hampton jumped ahead 4-2 and built a four-point lead at 16-12. They held George Washington at bay until the Revolutionaries tied it at 18. Hampton had a set point at 24-23, but the Revolutionaries stole the next three points to finish the set at 26-24. The third set was tied at four when George Washington posted six straight to take the final frame 25-15.
