HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 8, 2025) ... The 2025 Hampton University volleyball welcomes Hofstra to Holland Hall for matches Thursday and Friday. The Pirates are coming off a weekend in which they dropped two games at North Carolina A&T.
Hampton fell in two contests over the weekend to the Aggies. The Pirates were led by Katerina Pappa who recorded 14 kills on the weekend, while Racquel Frazier burried 13 of her own. Ida Wiszomirska led Hampton with 43 assists, and Dila Derendeli added a team best 20 digs. Lillian Campbell (5) and Kylah McNeal (3) were stout on defense adding a combined eight blocks.
The Pride were picked second in the preseason poll, earning four first place vote, while the duo of Clara Bal and Izadora Stedile were named to the preseason All-CAA team.
Hofstra leads the all-time series with Hampton 4-0. The last time the two met was in the 2024 season when Hofstra took down the Pirates in two matches.
ABOUT HAMPTON
Racquel Frazier currently ranks tenth in the conference with 147 kills. Warren leads the Pirates in assists with 287, best for seventh in the CAA. Nationally, Frazier ranks in the top 150 individually in attacks per set (9.94).
Frazier leads the Pirates in kills, while Katerina Pappa (108), Jaya Rimm (66) and Campbell (51) have over 50. Pappa (90), Warren (85), Andrade (76), Frazier (74), Rimm (63), Nia Thomas (54) and Derendeli (53) have all logged over 50 digs in 2025. Campbell leads Hampton with 27.0 blocks on the year while Kylah McNeal adds 21.0.
The Pirates have seen a majority of their production this season come from freshman as two have played in every match.
WORLD WIDE PIRATES
The Pirates have quite the variety of areas and regions on its 2025 roster. Four players are from overseas, while 11 players represent six states. Overseas Pirates hail from Turkey, Greece, Poland and Brazil, while the states of Maryland, Georgia, New Jersey, Texas, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia are also represented.
NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
Racquel Frazier broke the school record for a five-set match Saturday, Sept. 6, against Le Moyne with 34 kills, but also ranked #1 in the nation for points in a game with 36.5. Following her stellar performance Frazier was named to the Blue Hen All-Tournament Team.
WON NOT DONE
Second year head coach Ronaldo Pacheco earned his first career victory in the teams five-set match over Le Moyne Saturday, Sept. 6. He led his team to a come from behind 14-25, 25-7, 23-25, 25-22, 17-15 win after falling down two sets to one in the match with the Dolphins. Pacheco's Pirates have just one upper classmen on this years roster.
ABOUT HOFSTRA
The Pride are led offensively by Stedile who has a team best 190 kills on the season, best for fourth in the CAA. Beatriz Brage adds 148 kills, ninth most in the conference, while Nina Jioshvili-Ravva has amassed 251 assists on the season.
Julia Amorim leads the conference and is fourth in the nation in blocks per set with 1.71 and brings 72.0 blocks into the weekend. The Pride hold a 11-2 (4-2) record in the 2025 season where they jumped out to an early 5-0 record before dropping their two conference losses to Charleston.
