RICHMOND, Va. (April 2, 2025) … Hampton University men's tennis senior
Donte Armbrister was announced on Wednesday as one of the finalists for the 2024-25 Coastal Athletic Association Male Student Athlete of the Year.
Armbrister, a native of Nassau, Bahamas, is pursuing his Masters in Sport Administration. He has represented his home country in the Davis Cup for two years. Armbrister has worked with Bahamas Lawn Tennis assisting junior tennis players during his summer breaks from college. He also has been privately teaching youngsters in his native land tennis.
At Hampton, he was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma in 2023 and has been named to the Dean's List seven times. Through the CAA, he has been named to the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll – High Honors with Distinction, in the last two semesters. He has also been involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) working to plan events for student-athletes. Armbrister has been involved in student-athlete visits to local elementary schools to read to the kids.
On the court, Armbrister has won 37 matches in his career and currently leads the team in singles wins this season with a 7-6 record at line one. In doubles, he has compiled a 7-7 record this season.
Armbrister will receive a crystal award from the CAA commemorating this accomplishment.
