HAMPTON, Va. (April 8, 2025) … The Hampton University men's and women's tennis teams will return to action on Wednesday with a combined three matches at Neilson-Screen Stadium.

At 2 p.m., the women will host Towson in a Coastal Athletic Association matchup. Following that match, approximately 5 p.m., both teams will be in action against Virginia State.

The Hampton men (4-12) are coming into Wednesday's match with Virginia State after falling in a tough 4-3 marathon with Howard on Saturday. The Pirates won the doubles point behind Donte Armbrister and Yanozie Amadike taking a 7-6 (7-3) win at the top spot as the Bison won the last two contested singles matches, both in three-sets, to take the match.

On the women's side, Hampton (7-7, 1-1 CAA) starts a stretch of six matches at home in nine days by facing a Towson Tigers squad that the Pirates have defeated in each of the prior two meetings. Hampton scored a 4-3 win on April 15, 2024, in Maryland and 6-1 also in Maryland on April 10, 2023.

Towson (4-9, 2-4) took a 4-3 win over Hofstra in its last match on Saturday. Hofstra took the doubles point, but Towson won the last four singles matches to take the dual win. Aubrey Carper and Olivia Rothfield have four wins each to lead the Tigers in singles, while Ashira Murray and Sania Suchinsky have four wins each to lead doubles.

Virginia State's men are 0-8 after falling 4-0 to Coppin State on Saturday. This will be the third Division I match for the Trojans as they also fell to Norfolk State. On the women's side, Virginia State is 7-6 after also falling 4-0 to Coppin State. The Trojans had won three in a row heading into the Coppin State match.

Hampton's men will be back in action on Friday at Loyola (Md.) at 3 p.m., while the women host Richmond at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
