Box Score MURFRESSBORO, N.C. (Mar. 1, 2026) … The Hampton University men's tennis team took down Chowan 4-3 Sunday to earn their first win of the spring season.
The Pirates, who are short-handed at the moment were forced to surrender two points due to forfeit in the three slot of doubles and six singles Sunday. The Hawks earned a 6-2 win in the one doubles to pick up the first point of the day, and improved to a 2-0 lead due to the singles forfeit.
Hampton then began to fight their way back into the match. Rafael Padilha got the Pirates a win in the one singles, taking down his opponent 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 to help the Pirates comeback. Tshion Fedorov (6-2, 6-2) and Aryan Arora (6-4, 6-3) each took care of their matches in consecutive sets, as Hampton evened the match at three.
Kohei Konishi was able to secure the Pirates fourth point, to win the match in the three singles as he he won his match 3-6, 7-6, 6-2. Sunday's match marked the first win of the season for the Pirates.
