STONY BROOK, N.Y. (Mar. 14, 2026) … The Hampton University softball team dropped a Saturday doubleheader at Stony Brook losing 14-2 in five innings in game one and falling 5-3 in the nightcap.
Game One
Hampton scored its runs in the fourth inning as
Cassidy Lee started with an infield single and went to third as Victoria Salazar doubled down the left field line. Lee scored on a wild pitch and
Camryn Hamilton singled in Salazar as Hampton trailed 13-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
Lee, Hamilton, Salazar and
Santrea Armstead had one hit each for Hampton in game one.
Leah Maduro took the loss throwing 1.2 innings and along eight runs, two earned and three hits.
Ashlyn Burgess was 3-for-3 to lead the Seawolves. Karri Pritchard, Elena Gonzales, Naiah Ackerman and Emily Valentine drove in a pair of runs each.
Game Two
Hampton scored a pair of runs to start game two as after one out, Lee walked and Salazar moved her to second with a single. Following a pop up,
Myiah Sutton walked to load the bases before
Amani Johnson drove in Lee with a single and an error allowed Salazar to score for a 2-0 lead.
Stony Brook tied it with two in the bottom of the inning. Hampton answered with one in the top of the second on a one-out home run to center field by Camrynn Bonner.
The hosts scored one in the second and two more in the fourth to take the 5-3 win.
Salazar had her first three-hit day going 3-for-4 to lead the Pirates.
McKenzie Rimmer-Jones took the loss throwing 3.1 innings and allowing six hits, four runs and three earned.
These teams will close out their three-game set with a noon start on Sunday.
