HAMPTON, Va. (July 30, 2026) … The Hampton University track and field teams were honored this week by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association with several All-Academic awards.

Earning All-Academic honors by recording GPAs over a 3.5 this year were:

Khari Barnes – was fourth in the CAA Indoor Championship in the 60 meters (6.76) and fifth in the CAA Outdoor Championship 200 meters (21.70)
Delano Lawrence – broke the school record in the discus four times outdoors topped by a 57.45m (188-6) toss at Liberty Twilight and took second at the CAA Outdoor Championships.
Rochele Solmon – won the CAA Indoor Championship in the shot put with a toss of 15.10m (49-6.5) and followed up in the outdoor championship winning the discus with a personal best toss of 52.79m (173-2)
Marquis White – won the CAA Indoor Championship in the long jump with a meet record 7.34m (24-10) and then again outdoors with a personal best 7.69m (25-2.75)

Both track teams were recognized as All-Academic teams with each having a cumulative GPA over a 3.0.
