• Was a consensus three-star prospect ranking No.198 nationally and No. 37 in his position
• Named the North Carolina state player of the year by the Charlotte Observer
• His game incrementally improved each year in high school
• Son of Vernon Maxwell who was an All-American at Florida, longtime NBA veteran, and champion with the Houston Rockets.
• Recruited by schools such as Gonzaga, Georgetown, Marquette, NC State, Providence, Temple, and Texas A&M.
