2014 JUNIOR SEASON
Third Team All-MEAC… played in all 12 games for the Pirates, making 11 starts… had 52 total tackles, ranking sixth on the team… was second on the team with 13.0 tackles for loss… was third on the team in sacks with 5.0… led the team with 10 quarterback hurries on the season… also forced a team-high two fumbles… had a season-high 10 tackles and 3.5 sacks in the Pirates’ upset of nationally-ranked Bethune-Cookman… was a Preseason First Team All-MEAC selection.
 
2013 SOPHOMORE SEASON
First Team All-MEAC… started in all 12 games for the Pirates… was sixth on the team with 57 total tackles, including 34 solo stops… registered a career-high nine tackles (five solo) against Delaware State… added seven tackles (five solo) at Bethune-Cookman… had a team-high 9.5 sacks, tied for second in the MEAC… had a career-best 3.5 sacks against Delaware State… also led the team and was tied for second in the MEAC in tackles for loss with 18.5… had 3.5 tackles for loss against Delaware State and 3.0 at Bethune-Cookman… forced a team-high four fumbles on the season, including two against Delaware State… was named to the 2014 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List.
 
2012 FRESHMAN SEASON
Played in 10 games for the Pirates… had nine tackles on the season, including six solo stops… had two solo tackles each against Savannah State (Oct. 27) and at Morgan State (Nov. 17)… added two assisted tackles at Howard on Nov. 3… had three sacks on the season, including two against Savannah State… those three sacks were his lone tackles for loss on the season.
 
HERNICO HIGH SCHOOL
Played football as a junior and senior… was Honorable Mention All-District as a junior… recorded 42 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, and four forced fumbles as a senior, en route to earning First Team All-District honors…also played basketball all four years… averaged eight points and rebounds a game as a junior… averaged 12 points and eight rebounds as a senior.

PERSONAL
Born Nov. 17, 1992… son of Cassandra and Marcellus Grooms… has one sister, Chelsea (23)… nicknamed Big Grooms… was featured in the Richmond Times-Dispatch… majoring in business management… wants to own his own construction company.
