Hampton University freshman guard Deron Powers was named HU Athlete of the Week following his performance on the hardwood this past weekend.

Powers (Williamsburg, Va.) had a career-high 22 points in Saturday’s 58-50 win over Howard, giving the Pirates their first win of the season. Powers went 6-for-13 from the floor, 4-for-6 from behind the arc, and he hit six of his seven free throws.

He also had six assists against the Bison.
