Hampton University junior rightside Vendula Strakova was named HU Athlete of the Week, following her performance this past weekend on the volleyball court.
Strakova (Brno, Czech Republic) was named Most Outstanding Player in the MEAC Tournament, as she led the Lady Pirates in winning their first-ever MEAC crown. She totaled 64 kills, 15 aces, 18 digs, and 11.0 total blocks in three matches played.
She had a career-high nine aces against Howard on Saturday, and she had 25 kills in Sunday’s championship match against Coppin State. Strakova eclipsed the 1,000-kill mark for her Hampton career, becoming just the fifth Lady Pirate to do so.
