Junior linebacker Lyndell Gibson was named Hampton University Athlete of the Week following his outstanding performance on the gridiron.

Gibson (Virginia Beach, Va.) was key in the Pirates' 42-6 win over Delaware State on Saturday at Armstrong Stadium. The Virginia Tech transfer had 13 tackles in the game, including three for a loss of eight yards, while also breaking up two passes and intercepting two others.

Gibson returned those interceptions for a total of 66 yards – including a 43-yard touchdown return l.ate in the fourth quarter.
