HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University basketball teams each have just three regular-season games remaining, starting with this Saturday's doubleheader across the James River against archrival Norfolk State. The women's game will tip off at 4 p.m., with the men's game following at roughly 6 p.m.

The Lady Pirates (12-13, 8-5 MEAC) had their five-game winning streak snapped on Monday in a 90-87 overtime loss to Morgan State and now sit in fifth place in the conference. Ashlee Finley (Harrisburg, Pa.) led Hampton with 17 points in the loss, going 6-for-10 from the field and 5-for-8 from the free throw line. Quanneisha Perry (Decatur, Ga.) recorded another double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down a career-high 21 rebounds.

The Lady Pirates beat Norfolk State (1-23, 1-12 MEAC) 87-57 at the Convocation Center on Jan. 31. Chinyere Ukoh (Woodbridge, Va.) led Hampton with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Hampton leads the all-time series 42-33 and have won 11 of the last 12 against the Lady Spartans, including the last four straight contests.

Freshman Raychele Payne leads Norfolk State in scoring, averaging 10.0 points a contest, while Tashawna Higgins leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 3.8 boards a contest. The Lady Spartans lost 78-57 to Winston-Salem State on Monday, two days after picking up their first win of the season, 75-52 over South Carolina State.

The Pirates (13-14, 6-7 MEAC) returned to their winning ways on Monday, taking a 49-47 defensive battle over Morgan State. Donte Harrison (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Hampton with 18 points. Harrison and Kwame Morgan (Largo, Md.) each had a team-high six rebounds for the Pirates.

Hampton is tied for sixth in the conference with Howard and Norfolk State, two teams the Pirates will face in the final three games of the regular season.

Since joining the MEAC in 1995-96, the Pirates are 15-11 against Norfolk State, including wins in both match-ups last season. Hampton had won three straight games in the series, but the Spartans put an end to that in the first meeting of the season, which Norfolk State won in come-from-behind fashion 68-62 at the Convocation Center on Jan. 31.

Norfolk State has lost four straight and six of its last seven following Monday's 68-64 loss to Winston-Salem State. Senior guard Michael Deloach is the Spartans' leading scorer so far this season, pouring in 21.3 points per contest to go along with 5.0 rebounds. Senior Corey Lyons is second on the team in scoring with 14.7 points a game, while junior forward Brandon Monroe leads the Spartans in rebounding, pulling down 7.0 boards per game.

The Pirates and Lady Pirates will then travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take on North Carolina A&T on Monday, before closing out the regular season on Thursday at Howard.
