TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Hampton University women's basketball team got back into the win column on Monday night, defeating Florida A&M 59-47 at the Lawson Center.
Freshman
Chikilra Goodman (Philadelphia, Pa.) led four Lady Pirates in double figures with 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting, making three of her five 3-pointers. Senior forward
Quanneisha Perry (Decatur, Ga.) and junior guard
Jericka Jenkins (Lancaster, Texas) each scored 13 points, and Perry added a team-high 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.

Melanie Warner (Tallahassee, Fla.) scored 10 points.
The Lady Pirates trailed for much of the first half, as Florida A&M opened the game on an 8-2 run and led by as much as 14; Antonia Bennett hit a jumper with 4:56 left in the first half to give the Rattlers a 26-12 lead.
But Hampton (13-6, 6-1 MEAC) responded with a 19-4 run, taking a 31-30 lead with 44 seconds left in the first half when senior guard
Laura Lewis (Dallas, Texas) hit a jumper.
The Lady Pirates took that lead into the half.
FAMU shot 50.0 percent (11-for-22) from the floor in the first half, but Hampton held the Rattlers to just 14.8 percent shooting (4-for-27) in the second half.
Hampton held off the Rattlers (8-10, 4-3 MEAC) in the second half, opening up a 12-point lead after Warner sank a free throw with 3:56 left to play to put the Lady Pirates up 54-42.
Bennett cut Hampton's lead to seven, 54-47, with a 3-pointer with 2:25 to play, but again Hampton pulled away – Warner sank a jumper with 1:42 to play, before Jenkins and Goodman combined to go 3-for-3 from the free throw line in the closing moments.
Hampton outscored FAMU 28-17 in the second half.
The Lady Pirates shot 35.0 percent (21-for-60) from the floor, making six of their 19 3-point attempts. Hampton also out-rebounded the Rattlers 43-40, including 19 boards on the offensive end. Hampton scored 17 points off of 17 Florida A&M turnovers.
The Rattlers shot 30.6 percent (15-for-49) from the floor. Bennett led all scorers with 20 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds, while Tameka McKelton added 11 points.
