HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University women's basketball team will go for its third straight win on Monday, taking on Maryland Eastern Shore at the HU Convocation Center at 4:30 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
The Lady Pirates (14-6, 7-1 MEAC), in their second season under head coach
David Six, picked up their second straight win on Saturday with a 52-29 win over Delaware State at the HU Convocation Center. Junior guard
Jericka Jenkins (Lancaster, Texas) led the Lady Pirates with 12 points, all in the first half, while junior forward
Melanie Warner added 11 points.

Quanneisha Perry (Decatur, Ga.) each pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
UMES (7-13, 4-3 MEAC) had its two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 35-33 loss at Howard. Senior center Chena Parker led the Lady Hawks with 12 points and 11 rebounds; only four UMES players scored, and the team shot just 18.8 percent in the second half.
Hampton is 30-6 all-time against Maryland Eastern Shore, having won the last six meetings in the series. The Lady Pirates swept last year's meetings, winning 64-48 in Princess Anne, Md. on Feb. 1, 2010, before beating the Lady Hawks 65-41 on March 10 in the MEAC Tournament. The teams first met on Feb. 14, 1983, with Hampton taking a 79-74 win; in fact, the Lady Pirates won the first nine meetings with UMES. The Lady Hawks didn't beat Hampton until taking a 79-65 win on Feb. 18, 1997. The Lady Pirates are 13-1 all-time against UMES at home, including an 11-1 mark at the HU Convocation Center.
The Lady Hawks went 12-16 last season, finishing seventh in the MEAC with a record of 8-8 before falling 65-41 to Hampton in the MEAC Tournament. UMES returns four starters and nine letterwinners from last year's squad, and the Lady Hawks were picked to finish ninth in the MEAC.
Senior guard Casey Morton leads the Lady Hawks in scoring, averaging 11.8 points per game, while junior guard Kwinnyata Mercer is pouring in 10.3 points a contest. Parker is pulling down a team-high 5.1 rebounds per game.
UMES is averaging just 55.0 points per game on offense, while giving up 60.6 points a night.
After beating Delaware State 52-29 on Saturday, the Lady Pirates are 6-2 at the HU Convocation Center so far this season. The Lady Pirates were 10-3 at the HU Convocation Center last season, winning their last seven home contests. Hampton went 7-1 at home in MEAC games last season, and Six is 16-5 in his career as a head coach at home.
