LADY PIRATES AFTER SEVEN STRAIGHT ON ROAD

The Hampton University women's basketball team will look for its seventh straight win on Monday, as the Lady Pirates take on North Carolina A&T at the Corbett Sports Center at 4:30 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.

The Lady Pirates (18-6, 10-1 MEAC), in their second season under head coach David Six, picked up their sixth straight win with a 74-53 win over Norfolk State in Echols Hall. Junior guard Jericka Jenkins (Lancaster, Texas) led the Lady Pirates with 22 points and nine assists, while junior guard Choicetta McMillian (Fairfield, Texas) added 20 points behind six 3-pointers and junior forward Melanie Warner (Tallahassee, Fla.) added 10 points.

North Carolina A&T (11-11, 7-4 MEAC) has won two straight after beating Howard 58-54 on Saturday at the Corbett Sports Center. Sophomore guard Jaquayla Berry led the Lady Aggies with 26 points, while senior forward Jaleesa Sams added 10 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

Hampton is 19-13 all-time against North Carolina A&T, though the Lady Aggies have won 10 of the last 13 meetings. Hampton beat the Lady Aggies 71-36 at the HU Convocation Center earlier this season on Jan. 17. The Lady Pirates snapped North Carolina A&T's five-game winning streak in the series last season, winning 90-80 at the HU Convocation Center on Feb. 15, 2010 to hand the Lady Aggies their first MEAC loss of the season. From 1998-2005, Hampton won 16 straight games against North Carolina A&T. The Lady Pirates are 7-6 against the Lady Aggies on the road.

The Lady Pirates have gone 11 straight games without giving up 60 points, including back-to-back games in which they've given up a season-low 29 points against Delaware State and Maryland Eastern Shore. Hampton is giving up just 45.4 points per game in that span, compiling a 10-1 record.

The Lady Aggies went 23-11 last season, winning the MEAC regular season crown with a 14-2 conference mark before advancing to the third round of the WNIT – beating Wake Forest and Charlotte along the way. In returning four starters and six letterwinners this season, including Preseason Second Team selection Sams, North Carolina A&T was picked to finish second in the MEAC this season.

Sams leads the team in scoring, pouring in 13.9 points per game to go along with a team-high 7.5 rebounds per contest. Berry is the only other Lady Aggie in double figures, pouring in 13.2 points per game.

The Lady Aggies are scoring 66.5 points per game, while giving up 70.3 points per night.

So far this season, the Lady Pirates are 8-4 on the road, having defeated James Madison 69-64 in the first round of the Preseason WNIT before falling 76-64 at South Dakota State, 64-57 at Charlotte and 62-49 at Wake Forest. Hampton has also defeated Radford 52-51, East Carolina 69-63, Georgia State 74-44, Coppin State 76-56, Morgan State 68-37, Florida A&M 59-47 and Norfolk State 74-53 on the road. Six is 14-11 on the road for his career as a head coach.
