HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University softball team lost its series finale against Morgan State 8-0 in five innings on Sunday at the Lady Pirates Softball Complex.
The Lady Pirates dropped to 10-25 on the season and 3-3 in the MEAC Northern Division, while Morgan State moved to 11-21 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Morgan State struck first in the top of the third inning, when Tamra Griffin drove in a run on a fielder's choice, and the Lady Bears added six more runs in the fourth inning. Amber Frame brought in the first run of the inning with a bases-loaded walk, before Devina Brown flied out to center field to drive in another run.
Griffin and Lydia Rodriguez then each walked with the bases loaded, before Gabby Gomez drove in another run with a bunt single. Griffin scored the final run of the inning on a passed ball.
Brown reached on an error in the fifth inning, driving in another run and putting the game out of reach.
Jordan Eades went five innings, holding the Lady Pirates to just three hits and striking out four.

Chelsea Noler (Hesperia, Calif.) each had a hit for the Lady Pirates.
The Lady Pirates will return to action on Saturday, when they begin a three-game set against Howard at the Lady Pirates Softball Complex. Saturday's doubleheader will start at 2 p.m.
