WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Hampton University women's basketball team will look for its sixth straight win on Monday, when the Lady Pirates take on rival Howard at 7 p.m. at the newly-renovated Burr Gymnasium.
The Lady Pirates (14-3, 6-0 MEAC) have won 19 straight games against conference foes after Saturday's 92-43 win over Norfolk State. Senior guard
Choicetta McMillian (Fairfield, Texas) and sophomore guard
Nicole Hamilton (Hampton, Va.) each led Hampton with 16 points, while junior forward
Keiara Avant (Chesapeake, Va.) added 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Sophomore forward
Alyssa Bennett (Hampton, Va.) added 13 points, while senior guard
Jericka Jenkins (Lancaster, Texas)poured in 12 points to go with a career-high-tying 17 assists.
Jenkins' 17 assists also tied the program's Div. I record for assists in a game.
Howard (13-6, 5-1 MEAC) won its third straight game on Jan. 16, beating North Carolina Central 67-26 at home. Junior guard Tamoria Holmes led the Lady Bison with 23 points, while redshirt-junior forward Saadia Doyle, the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year, added 21 points.
Howard went 16-18 last season, finishing fifth in the MEAC with a 9-7 record before falling in the MEAC championship game to Hampton. The Lady Bison, under fourth-year head coach Niki Reid Geckeler, return four starters and 10 letterwinners from last season, and were picked to finish second in the league this season.
Holmes is the team's leading scorer, pouring in 18.7 points per contest, while Doyle is second in scoring with 17.2 points per game, while also pulling down a team-high 6.4 rebounds a night.
Howard is averaging 59.5 points per game on offense, while giving up 55.3 points a contest.
Hampton is 21-20 all-time against Howard, having won earlier this season on Jan. 7 and all three of last season's meetings — including the MEAC Tournament title game. Hampton has won 17 of the last 20 in the series, including eight in a row from 2002-06.
Howard last beat Hampton on Dec. 5, 2009, 48-47 in Washington, D.C.

David Six, the Lady Pirates are a combined 24-13 in road games over the past two-plus seasons — including a 60-37 win at Pitt, a 68-55 win at Jacksonville, a 79-62 win at IPFW, a 66-39 win at Chicago State, a 71-63 win at Boston College, a 76-50 win at Coppin State and an 83-51 win at Morgan State.
Hampton went 11-4 on the road last season, including a stretch in which Hampton won five straight road games. Hampton went 6-6 on the road in 2009-10, Six's first season at the helm.
