ELON, N.C. – The Hampton University softball team split two games in the second day of the Elon Phoenix Softball Clash on Sunday, beating Temple 8-4 before falling to host Elon 8-2 at Hunt Softball Park.
The Lady Pirates (4-9) won three of the weekend's four games.

Taylor McCoy (Riverview, Fla.).
Temple added a run in the top of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead.
But the bottom of the sixth belonged to the Lady Pirates, as they pushed across seven runs in the inning. The deluge started with an RBI double from junior
Margaret Wilkins (Tustin, Calif.), before sophomore
Bianca Vallejo (Chandler, Ariz.) drove in a run by grounding out.
Senior
Nina Ferguson (Plymouth, Minn.) doubled to left-center to bring in another run, before freshman
Bobbi Langlois (Medina, Ohio), the reigning MEAC Rookie of the Week, singled home another run and loaded the bases.
Senior
Adrianna Scott (Laurel, Md.) emptied the bases with a triple to right-center, putting Hampton up 8-4.
Sophomore
Jailynn Jackson (Virginia Beach, Va.) picked up her third win of the season, throwing the full seven innings and striking out eight.
Wilkins, Ferguson, Langlois, and McCoy each had two hits.
