DOVER, Del. – The Hampton University women's basketball team will take on Delaware State on Monday at Memorial Hall at 5:30 p.m. in what will be the team's final road game of the 2012-13 regular season.
The Lady Pirates (21-5, 12-0 MEAC) won their 12th straight game on Wednesday, beating Maryland Eastern Shore 78-47. Senior forward
Keiara Avant (Chesapeake, Va.) led four Lady Pirates in double figures with 20 points on 7-for-15 shooting.
Hampton's winning streak is tied for the 11th-best in Div. I with Mercer and Cal.
Delaware State (9-16, 6-6 MEAC) snapped a five-game losing streak on Saturday with a 58-48 win over Norfolk State. Junior guard Tasia Bristow led the Lady Hornets with 25 points and 10 rebounds, going 7-for-15 from the floor.
The Lady Hornets went 7-23 last season, finishing 10th in the MEAC with a mark of 4-12. Delaware State, in its first year under head coach Tamika Louis, returns all five starters and 11 letterwinners from last season, and the Lady Hornets were chosen to finish 11th in the MEAC this year.
Redshirt-sophomore guard/forward Tierra Hawkins leads the Lady Hornets in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game so far this season. Bristow is averaging 12.7 points per game.
Hawkins is third in the MEAC in scoring and eighth in rebounding.
Delaware State is averaging 59.1 points per game on offense, while giving up 65.0 points a night.
Hampton is 29-12 all-time against Delaware State, and the Lady Pirates have won the last nine meetings — including a 75-56 win on Feb. 11 in Hampton, Va. Overall, Hampton has won 13 of the last 14 meetings. The Lady Pirates are 10-7 against Delaware State on the road.

David Six. Hampton has a winning record against every MEAC team.
Hampton's first regular-season MEAC title came in 1998-99, and the Lady Pirates first won the MEAC Tournament, and its corresponding NCAA bid, in 2000.
Under Six, the Lady Pirates are 42-14 in road games — including a 13-3 mark away from the HU Convocation Center last season. Hampton's success on the road has been a large part of the team's recent dominance in the MEAC; the Lady Pirates were a perfect 8-0 in road conference games last season.
The Lady Pirates are 12-1 on the road so far this season, with that lone loss coming at Virginia Tech on Dec. 30.
