HAMPTON, VA. – The Hampton University women's basketball team will finish off its season-opening Big Ten weekend taking on the University of Iowa on Sunday at 1pm EST in Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Ia.
Hampton enters the game after losing 67-48 at Northwestern on Friday afternoon, while Iowa defeated Oral Roberts 96-76 on Friday night.

SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES
Iowa opened its season on Friday night defeating Oral Roberts 96-76 as Ally Disterhoft scored 29 points and Megan Gustafson added 25 and 12 rebounds. The Hawkeyes hit 50% from the floor and outrebounded Oral Roberts 55-36.

FINNEY-SMITH OPENS WITH STRONG PERFORMANCE
Monnazjea Finney-Smith played her first game in a Lady Pirate uniform Friday afternoon and topped Hampton in scoring with 16 points and four 3-pointers.  Her three-pointer to close the first quarter gave Hampton an 18-10 lead.

BATES GETS START IN FRONT OF FAMILY CONTINGENT
Ashley Bates got the start on Friday at Northwestern in front of a large contingent of family members from Hopkins, Minnesota. She scored the first points of the season for Hampton and finished with four points and two rebounds in 25 minutes.

The road trip next visits Raleigh, N.C. on Wednesday night for a 7pm matchup with North Carolina State University at Reynolds Coliseum.
