HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University Lady Pirates basketball team will conclude its action in the inaugural Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge on Sunday afternoon taking on Lafayette College in the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Mass. with a 3:30 pm tip.

This will be the first-ever meeting with the Leopards who went 0-3 in the Louisville pool of this eight-team event.  All eight teams will play in a four-game event to conclude the tournament in Springfield.
10:30 am – Saint Peter's vs. Bowling Green
1 pm – South Carolina vs. Louisville
3:30 pm – Hampton vs. Lafayette
6 pm – Maine vs. Chattanooga
Hampton finished its action in Columbia, SC with a 2-1 record after defeating Maine 58-49 on Nov. 22. The Lady Pirates were held scoreless for the first 4:48 before a jumper from
Malia Tate-DeFreitas stopped the drought. She ended up the leading scorer in the game for Hampton with 24 points, while
Kaylah Lupoe added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
MALIA MOVING UP
Senior
Malia Tate-DeFreitas has moved up on several lists at Hampton, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and nationally six games into her senior campaign.
She moved into second on the school's all-time scoring list and became the school's all-time Division I scoring leader after passing LaShondra Dixon-Gordon on Nov. 16.
She is currently sixth in the history of the MEAC in scoring with her 2,044 career points. With 15 points against Lafayette she'll move into fifth passing Corin Adams of Morgan State with 2,058 points.
She is currently second among active NCAA Division I players with career points (2,044) and fifth in steals (238).
