LEESBURG, Va. – The Hampton University cross country teams competed on Saturday at the George Mason Invitational in Leesburg with the women coming in eighth and the men coming in tenth.

For the women over a 6k course, Pollyanna Velasco was top finisher in 40^th at 24:38.6, while Asia Johnson was 60^th in 26:29.9, DeVonya Brown was 64^th in 28:28.7, Alysha Evans was 65^th in 29:18.1 and Ashanti Sallee was 67^th in 30:20.0.

Over the men's 8k course, Geoffrey McCullough was top finisher for Hampton in 53^rd in 27:50.3, Coby Price was 73^rd in 29:04.4, Tayvon Burris was 82^nd in 30:29.4, Eric Ellis was 85^th in 32:15.6 and Justin Beatty was 87^th in 37:58.9.

Both teams will next compete in the HBCU Challenge in Cary, N.C. on October 7.
