Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – The Hampton University Softball team in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action on Sunday scored single runs in the first and fifth innings to hold off Coppin State 2-1 in a final game of a three game series.

DaSha Hill would start the game with a walk and steal second base to set a new school single-season stolen base record with 40. Alanna Vandenburg would lay down a bunt single as hill advance to third but only to score on a throwing error by the first basemen putting the Lady Pirates on the board 1-0.Â

In the top of the fifth,
Brianna Anderson with one out would single to the pitcher and reached second base on a throwing error by the catcher. Anderson would steal third base and score on a throwing error by the catcher to push the Lady Pirates lead 2-0.

In the bottom of the seventh, Coppin State would have two runners on as Cayla Brown double to center scoring a run to close the Lady Pirates lead 2-1. The Lady Pirates would rely on junior pitcher
Allyson Babinsack to hold on Coppin State as she ended the game with four strikeouts.
The Lady Pirates are back in action on Wednesday Apr. 25 hosting George Washington University in a double header at 2pm and 4pm.
