Laren VanArsdale added 25 as Hampton opened the second quarter on a 12-3 run to propel them to an 84-55 win at Chattanooga on Saturday.
The win gave Hampton its first 2-0 start to a season since 2013-14 when they opened with wins over St. Peter's and Southern Mississippi.
After a tight first quarter that saw Hampton lead 21-16, the Lady Pirates jumped out on the 12-3 run as a pair of Timmons' 3-pointers put Hampton up 33-19 with 5:06 left in the half. The lead grew to 19 points twice in the last five minutes as a pair of jumpers from VanArsdale gave Hampton a 45-26 lead at halftime.
Ashley Bates added 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals for Hampton who finished 33-of-66 from the floor (50%), 8-of-17 from 3-point range (47.1%) and 10-of-14 from the line (71.4%). Hampton outrebounded Chattanooga 40-35.
The Lady Pirates hit the home floor for their lone November appearance inside the Convocation Center on Thursday, Nov. 14 facing Florida Atlantic at 7 pm.
