CLINTON, S.C. -- Freshman Nylah Young matched her three-day old career-highs with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Laren VanArsdale had 20 points and four steals as Hampton cruised to a 71-42 win over Presbyterian on Monday night.

After trailing 4-1 early, Hampton went on a 14-2 run to lead 15-6 on a Young jumper with 1:05 left in the opening quarter. Presbyterian cut the lead to 20-13 after a bucket by Alessia Capley at the 6:45 mark of the half, but Hampton popped off another big run scoring 10 of the last 11 points to lead 30-14 at intermission following a Young layup.

The lead grew to as much as 32 points on a putback by VanArsdale with 5:27 left when Hampton went up 64-32.

Hampton swarmed on the defensive end, especially early as they held Presbyterian to 25% from the field in the first 20 minutes going 5-for-20.  On the night, Hampton forced 25 turnovers and out rebounded the Blue Hose 34-21.

Young, who recorded her career-high in Saturday's win over Gardner-Webb was 9-of-10 from the foul line as Hampton was 14-of-18 on the night from the stripe. VanArsdale was 7-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-4 from 3-point range as Hampton hit 25-of-53 from the floor (47.2%) and 7-of-17 from 3-point land (41.2%).

MaKayla Timmons was the other double figure scorer with 11 points and four rebounds for Hampton who returns to the home floor on Thursday night facing preseason top pick Radford at 7 pm.
