FARMVILLE, Va. – Sophomore
Laren VanArsdale scored a season high 31 points to lead three in double figures on Saturday as Hampton put away Longwood 90-76 in a key Big South Conference matchup.
On the game, Hampton was 22-of-22 from the foul line to set a school record for single-game free throw percentage. The previous most in a game, without a miss, was 21 last year in a home win over Presbyterian. The 22 makes was one off the Big South single-game record of 23.
Both teams combined to hit 37-of-37 from the foul line to set an NCAA record for highest combined free throw percentage, with at least 30 makes.

Longwood jumped out to an early as a pair of Mallory Odell free throws put the hosts up 17-12 with 2:23 left. Hampton closed the quarter scoring the last nine points to lead 21-17 after a pair of
Nylah Young free throws with 47 seconds left.
That run continued into the second quarter as Hampton scored the first ten points to lead 31-17 after a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer by VanArsdale with 7:24 left in the half.
Longwood trimmed the lead to 50-43 with 4:17 left on a pair of Tra'dayja Smith which was as close as they got. Hampton pushed the lead to 18 points on a pair of VanArsdale free throws to lead 81-63 with 2:54 left.
Joining VanArsdale in double figures was Young with her eighth double-double of the year with 22 points and 10 rebounds.Â
MaKayla Timmons added 17 points and five assists as Hampton (14-10, 10-5) who was 30-of-68 from the field (44.1%), 8-of-19 from 3-point range (42.1%) and outrebounded Longwood 37-33.
Hampton now visits USC Upstate on Tuesday night for a 6pm tip.
