HIGH POINT, N.C. –
Ashley Bates scored 17 points and
MaKayla Timmons added 15 as Hampton lost at High Point 74-59 on Tuesday night.
The homestanding Panthers jumped out to a 16-2 lead on an Amaria McNear 3-pointer with 3:57 left in the first quarter. The lead grew to 24-7 at the end of the first on a layup by Courtney Meadows to close the period.
Hampton outscored High Point 39-32 in the second half and trimmed a 22-point halftime deficit to 15 on a 3-pointer by Bates with 39 seconds left for the eventual final score of 74-59.
Laren VanArsdale and
Dlayla Chakolis added eight points apiece, while Timmons topped Hampton on the boards with a season best eight. Skyler Curran topped High Point (10-11, 8-4) with 21 points on 7-of-13 from 3-point range.
Hampton (12-9, 8-4) now visits Gardner-Webb on Saturday for a 3pm tip in Boiling Springs, N.C.
