This past weekend, February 4-6, the Hampton University Track and Field team competed in two different meets. The first being the Dr. Sander Invitational meet in New York, NY, held on February 4-5. The second meet, the Pirates competed in the Richard Drake Invitational, held on February 6 in Virginia Beach.

Dr.Sander Invitational

Dugion Blackman finished with a new career-best time in the men's 800-meter dash with a time of 1:51.66, giving him a third-place finish in the event.

Amira Aduma placed third in the women's long jump with a mark of 6.19 meters, a career-best mark.

Dieusi Armand posted a 12.42-meter mark in women's triple jump, a career-best and a fourth-place finish in the event.

The men's 4x400 relay team, comprised of Blackman, Josiah and
Jeremiah Hill and
Noah Langford, would take third place, crossing the finish line in 3:14.97. The women's 4x400 relay team, headlining Aduma, Kyna Robinson, Dejah Grant and Jordan Mozie, would finish with a time of 3:45.42, good enough for fourth place.

Richard Drake Invitational

Nicholas Edwards finished in first place in men's shot put, tossing a mark of 14.95 meters.

Kelvin Fonville finished second in men's long jump, leaping to a 7.00-meter mark.

Ellis Woodyard, with a 4.15-meter pole vault, finished in second place.
Â
Rushshane Fullerton ran 1:58.81 in the men's 800-meter dash, giving him second place in the event.

Abria Smith finished with both a career-best 16.57-meter mark and second place in the women's weight throw.

Jailyn Raines posted a 1.62-meter mark in women's high jump, giving her a second-place finish.

Anissa Bernard finished third place in women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.14.

Jazlyn Jefferson took third place in women's 200-meter dash with a time of 25.50.

The women's shot-put event saw three competitors from Hampton finish in the top five. Oluwatomilayo Akintude placed first in the event and posted a career-best mark, 13.70 meters. Abria Smith (3
rd) and
Kamaria Horton (5
th) posted marks of 12.58 meters and 12.14 meters respectively.
The team will participate in the Norfolk State Invitational on Friday also in Virginia Beach.
