Lady Pirates Visit Miami For FIU Tournament Starting Friday

HAMPTON, Va.  (Dec. 19, 2024) … The Hampton University women's basketball team heads to Miami, Florida this weekend for a pair of games in the Florida International University Christmas Classic on Friday and Saturday.
 
At noon Friday, Hampton will face the hosts FIU and on Saturday at 2 p.m they'll face George Washington. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
SERIES VS. FIU
This will be the first-ever meeting with the Panthers of FIU.
 
SERIES VS. GEORGE WASHINGTON
This will be the second meeting with George Washington as the Revolutionaries won the inaugural meeting last season taking a 46-40 decision on December 16, 2023 in Washington, D.C. Jenae Dublin had six points, four rebounds and five steals, while Aisha Dabo had six points and five boards in that contest.

ABOUT HAMPTON
The Lady Pirates head south after a thrilling 76-67 win over Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night. Hampton hit nine 3-pointers, which is the most in a game since 2021 as Dabo hit three.
 
Jasha Clinton leads Hampton in scoring (14 ppg) and steals (2.0 spg). Dublin is next in scoring at 9.3 points and a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game. CeCe Thomas follows them at 8.3 points, 2.7 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.
 
Hampton is hitting .385 from the floor (170-442), .297 from 3-point range (35-118) and .626 from the foul line (97-155). They are averaging 59 points per game and allowing 70.6, while forcing 22 turnovers per game.

ABOUT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
The Panthers start their classic coming off a 72-56 loss to University of Texas-Arlington on Monday night. FIU has wins over Florida National (132-25), Wagner (87-52) and Yale (82-60).
 
Parris Atkins leads FIU in scoring averaging 14 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. She is joined in double figures by Isnelle Natabou at 11.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game and Angena Belloso who is averaging 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
 
FIU is hitting .456 from the field (244-535), .325 from 3-point range (51-157) and .602 from the foul line (115-191). They are averaging 72.7 points per game and allowing 65.
 
ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Revolutionaries will play Miami of Ohio on Friday before facing Hampton. They defeated American 62-47 on Monday in their last action before Florida. George Washington has wins over Delaware (78-66), Virginia-Lynchburg (89-38), Towson (69-57), Georgia Southern (56-46), Morgan State (52-47) along with American.
 
Makayla Andrews leads the team in scoring at 13.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. She is joined in double figures by Gabby Reynolds at 10.1 points and a team-high 1.4 steals per game. Sara Lewis leads them on the boards averaging 6.9 rebounds per game to go along with 7.6 points.
 
George Washington is hitting .408 from the field (231-565), .237 from 3-point range (40-169) and .633 from the foul line (126-199). They are averaging 62.8 points and allowing 57.3 per contest.
