HAMPTON, Va. (March 11, 2025) … Hampton University begins play in the 2025 Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Tournament on Wednesday afternoon as they face Stony Brook at 2 p.m. inside CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.
The Pirates enter the tournament with a 7-22 record and a 3-15 mark in league play to finish 13
th in the regular season. Stony Brook is 12-17 overall and 7-11 in CAA play to finish 12
th.

Jasha Clinton went 1-for-2 from the foul line with 22 seconds left and a resilient Hampton University women's basketball team withstood several flurries late from the Stony Brook Seawolves to come away with a 59-57 win at Stony Brook Arena on February 14.

Stony Brook pulled to 41-38 early in the fourth behind a Breauna Ware free throw, but the Pirates responded pushing the lead back to eight at 54-46 following a Foreman three-point play with 3:52 left.
Hampton saw the hosts chip away and get to 58-57 with 25 seconds left after a Shamarla King three-point play. Clinton responded with her free throw, but the fun wasn't done. Each team had a turnover in the final 20 seconds, and a baseline jumper from Lauren Filien went long and into the hands of
Amyah Reaves to ice the win.
ABOUT HAMPTON
The Pirates come into the contest after falling twice in their last regular-season weekend dropping decisions to UNCW (68-54) and College of Charleston (93-66).
Clinton leads Hampton in scoring averaging 14.1 points per game and is tops in steals with 61. Dabo follows her in scoring at 7.7 points per game and is third in rebounding at 4.3 per game.
CeCe Thomas is averaging 7.3 points per game and is second in assists with 67, while
Jenae Dublin is next in scoring at 7.2 points per game and leads in rebounding at 5.0 per game. Foreman is second in rebounding at 4.8 per game and leads the team in offensive rebounds with 56.
As a team, Hampton is averaging 57.9 points per game and allowing 68.2 points per game. The Pirates are hitting .373 from the field, .263 from 3-point range and .621 from the foul line. The Pirates have had a knack this season for playing in close contests as they are 6-10 in games decided by 10 points or less.
ABOUT STONY BROOK
The Seawolves split their last regular season weekend as they lost at Hofstra in overtime (73-70) and defeated Drexel at home (66-59). Against Drexel, Shamarla King, Zaida Gonzalez and Breauna Ware combined for 56 of their 66 points.
Those three are the top three scorers for Stony Brook as Gonzalez averages 16.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Ware is next at 14.6 points per game and leads in assists with 60, while King is averaging 9.5 points and a team best 6.9 rebounds per game.
As a team, Stony Brook is hitting .379 from the field, .261 from 3-point range and .701 from the line. They average 58.3 points per game and allow 60.9.
In the meeting with Hampton in February, King had 19 points and six boards, Gonzalez had 15 points and 10 boards and Ware added 12 points.
