HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 26, 2026) … Coming off a 2-1 performance in the Battle of the Bay Classic, the Hampton University softball team heads to Farmville for the Bank of the James Invitational at Longwood University.
Hampton (4-4) opens the tournament on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. facing Penn. On Saturday, they'll face Youngstown State at 12:30 pm and host Longwood at 3 p.m. They'll then face Mt. St. Mary's at 12:30 pm and Longwood again at 3pm on Sunday to wind up the tournament.
The Pirates have been paced by freshman
Sydney Evans who is hitting .438 and coming off a Battle of the Bay Tournament where she hit .500 and earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors.
Carmynn Bonner is batting .417 and leads the team with two home runs and 11 RBIs.
On the mound, senior
Ava Lester has sported a 1.00 ERA with a 2-0 mark through two weekends. She has struck out 14 in 14 innings of work.
