HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 27, 2026) ... The Hampton University lacrosse team returns to action Saturday when they play host to Wagner at 11:00 a.m.
Hampton dropped its fourth game of the season in hearbreaking fashion 17-15 against VMI last Saturday.
LAST MEETING
Wagner won the last contest between the two sides 15-3 in 2018, and holds a 3-0 record all time against the Pirates.
ABOUT HAMPTON
Maliik Wood leads the Pirates in goals with 11 on the season, while freshman Anthony Bardonille Jr. has netted nine of his own. He is coming off a game in which he scored four goals and assisted on three, earning CAA Freshman of the Week. Darius Stanley is the other Pirate with five or more goals on the season as he has deposited eight.
In the net, Hampton is led by Miles Lancaster's 66 saves on the season, where he currently holds a .478 save percentage, while starting all four games. Edward Johnson has also saved 12 shots in his lone appearance on the season.
The Pirates haves scored eight goals or more in four straight games for the first time since the 2023 season, with the teams 15 against VMI being the most in a game against a Division I opponent in program history.
ABOUT WAGNER
Wagner enters Saturday's contest holding a 0-4 record as well. They are coming off a 16-7 loss to UMass Lowell last Saturday. The Seahawks are led by Jake Mitchell and Dylan Popehn's six goals a piece. Mitchell also leads the team in assists with five.
Angus Snow has recorded 50 saves on the year, posting a .442 save percentage, while allowing 14.77 goals per game. The junior has posted 14 starts in his career at Wagner.
RE-WRITING HISTORY
Anthony Bardonille Jr. became the first Hampton Pirate to receive a major weekly award by the CAA on Feb. 23, winning CAA Rookie of the Week. The freshman from Washington, D.C. posted four goals and three assists against VMI. He has recorded two hat tricks in four games this season, and currently leads the team in assists.
MARCH MADNESS
The Pirates will play four games in the month of March, all coming on the road, tallying 2,033 total miles. The month will start with a trip to Mercyhurst followed by Fairfield, Queens (N.C.), and Monmouth.
UP NEXT
Hampton returns to action at Armstrong Stadium on Sat., Mar. 7 when they travel to Erie, Pa. to take Mercyhurst. The game is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
