HAMPTON, Va. (Mar. 2, 2026) … The Hampton University softball team will start a five-game homestand this week as they face Youngstown State in a doubleheader on Tuesday at the HU Softball Stadium.
Game times are at noon and 2:30 p.m. and both are streamed on FloCollege.
Hampton (4-7) comes in after a tough weekend at the Bank of the James Invitational losing five games, including a 9-1 decision to Youngstown State.
Carmynn Bonner leads the team in average at .462 after going 8-for-15 (.533) at the tournament last weekend. She had four doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs to lead in those categories.
Kylee Quinn (.353),
Leah Maduro and
Simone Singleton (.333) follow Bonner with
Sydney Evans (.300) rounding out those over .300.
On the mound,
Ava Lester sports a 1.31 ERA with 16 strikeouts, while
McKenzie Rimmer-Jones leads the team in strikeouts (21), lowest opponent batting average (.266) and innings pitched (35.0) with a 2-4 record.
Youngstown State (6-8) went 3-2 in the tournament at Longwood. Bella Meyer is one of four players batting over .400 with a .452 average. Lydia Wilkerson is hitting .432 with one home run and nine RBIs, while Kennedy Dean hits at a .429 clip with two home runs and a team best 17 RBIs. Tai Turner follows at .400 with two home runs and 12 RBIs.
On the mound, Kennedy Kimball sports a 2.58 ERA while striking out 18 in 19 innings of work. Kelsey Ogin and Paiton Murphy share the team lead in wins with two each.
