HAMPTON, Va. (March 23, 2026) ... The Hampton University softball team will conclude a five-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon hosting UMES in a doubleheader starting at noon at the HU Softball Stadium.

SERIES VS. UMES
Hampton and UMES have played over 110 times in history with the Pirates holding a 99-15 advantage in the series. These teams played in the HBCU Collegiate Invitational on February 13 in Covington, Georgia with Hampton winning 11-6.
Carmynn Bonner was 3-for-4, while
Violet Salazar and
Amani Johnson were 2-for-4.
Ava Lester struck out eight to take the win on the mound.
ABOUT HAMPTON
Hampton enters this doubleheader after a three-game series loss to Hofstra over the past weekend. Bonner leads the team in batting average (.421), hits (32), runs scored (14), doubles (7), home runs (4), RBIs (17), slugging percentage (.671), on-base percentage (.464) and second in walks (7).
Following her in average is
Kylee Quinn (.316) and
Violet Salazar (.311). Salazar is second in hits (23) and doubles (5).
On the mound,
Ava Lester leads the team in ERA (3.83) and shares the team lead in wins (3) with
McKenzie Rimmer-Jones. Lester has 27 strikeouts to lead the team with Rimmer-Jones next at 25.
ABOUT UMES
The Hawks are 8-19 overall after being swept in a MEAC weekend series by Norfolk State 5-0, 10-5 and 5-4 at home.
Lola Meyer leads UMES at the plate with a .354 average, 23 hits, six doubles and shares the team lead in RBIs with 12. Araceli Manzo is next with a .298 average, followed by Clarke Calvin at .275.
On the mound, Dani Brown sports a team-best 4-6 record with a 4.51 ERA. She's struck out 36 in 66.2 innings of work.
