Pirates Visit Aggies For Weekend Softball Series

HAMPTON, Va. (March 26, 2026) … The Hampton Pirates softball team returns to CAA action this weekend as they head to Greensboro to face N.C. A&T in a three-game series.

Game one will be Friday at 2 p.m., while game two is at 1 p.m. on Saturday and game three will also be at 1 p.m. all from the Lady Aggies Softball Complex. All three games will be streamed on FloCollege.

ABOUT HAMPTON (7-20, 1-8 CAA)
The Pirates enter this series off a Tuesday doubleheader split with UMES winning the opener 7-0 and falling 5-3 in the nightcap.

In game one, McKenzie Rimmer-Jones threw the first no-hitter for Hampton since 2018 with her performance. She walked three, struck out two in the decision.

Carmynn Bonner leads the Pirates in several categories and is ranked in the top 10 in the CAA in many. She is 4th in average (.361), 8th in hits (37), T10th in doubles (4), 5th in OPS (1.126), 4th in slugging (.659) and 8th in OB percentage (.467).

Violet Salazar is next in average (.325), second in hits (28) and tied for second in doubles (5). Nationally, she is sixth in assists per game (2.81) and seventh in toughest to strikeout having done it once in 80 at-bats.

Ava Lester is ranked nationally in strikeouts-to-walk ratio (46th/3.86-to-one) and in walks allowed per seven innings (27th/1.28).

BONNER BLASTS
Senior Carmynn Bonner has made her presence known throughout her stellar career and is approaching a few career top 10 marks in the Hampton record book.

  • 37 doubles – currently sixth, one away from tie for fourth
  • 9 triples – in four-way tie for seventh and one from tying sixth place
  • .361 average – currently seventh, .004 from sixth, .005 from fifth and .006 from seventh
SERIES VS. N.C. A&T
Hampton leads the all-time series 31-23, though the Aggies took two of three last year at Hampton. The Pirates won 3-2 in nine innings in game one, while the Aggies won 9-1 in six innings and 16-0 in five innings the last two games.

ABOUT N.C. A&T (14-22, 1-8 CAA)
Aniya Merritt leads the team in batting average (.385) and hits (30), while Tyra Robinson is next in average (.291) with four doubles.

On the mound, Aaliyah Williams leads the team in ERA (.357), record (6-5), appearances (22), starts (13), complete games (5), innings pitched (86.1) and strikeouts (81).

They lost two of three at Charleston last weekend winning 11-3 in game two, while losing 6-0 and 2-1. The Aggies have lost seven of their last eight games.

NEXT UP
Hampton is back home next weekend for a three-game set against UNCW. A doubleheader will be on April 3 starting at 1 p.m., while game three will take place on Saturday, April 4 at 2 p.m.
