Hampton University senior forward Keiara Avant was named HU Athlete of the Week following her performance this past week on the hardwood.

Avant (Chesapeake, Va.) averaged 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds a game in two Lady Pirate victories this past week, including 12 points and 13 rebounds in Sunday’s overtime win at American for her eighth double-double of the season.

She also had 18 points and seven rebounds against Boston College on Wednesday, going 5-for-7 from the floor and 8-for-10 from the free throw line. For the week, Avant shot 60.0 percent (9-for-15) from the floor and 80.0 percent (12-for-15) from the charity stripe.
